We try to make the availability of appointments as flexible as possible by offering some that can be booked for the next day right up to four weeks in advance. We also offer on the day appointments which are available for medical emergency appointments only.
Please book 1 appointment for each person that needs to be seen and 1 appointment for each problem.
Please be punctual for your appointment and we will try not to keep you waiting.
There may be occasions when your doctor has been delayed by an emergency. If this happens, we will try to keep you informed of any delay and would appreciate your patience.
The switchboard is particularly busy from 8.00am to 10.00am each day and we would be grateful if you could delay ringing for reasons other than an appointment between this time as this helps those patients who need to book appointments.
When making an appointment please try to give as much information as you are happy to give, so your appointment can be booked for enough time, with the right healthcare professional.
You may see any of the doctors but we encourage you to see the same doctor each time wherever possible so you can get to know each other.
We will always try to offer a convenient appointment with the doctor of your choice. However due to the high demand on appointments this is not always possible and we would appreciate it if you would accept the best alternative.
Please remember to book 1 appointment for each person that needs to be seen and 1 appointment for each problem.
If you can’t keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make it available to another patient.
Appointments can also be cancelled online or using the automated telephone system.
If you wish to make an urgent appointment for the same day you will need to provide the receptionist with information about your current medical condition as they have been given clear rules on what is considered acceptable use of medical emergency appointments.
Urgent appointments are only for conditions which would worsen considerably if left untreated and will be held with the Duty Doctor.
The following are some examples of appointments that are not considered Medical emergencies:
We prefer to see you in the surgery where we have better facilities, diagnostic aids and lighting to assess you. If, however you are housebound and / or terminally ill then a request for a home visit should be made before 10.00am if possible.
When requesting a home visit please give a brief explanation of your problem and your telephone number to the receptionist as it will help the Doctor to assess the urgency of the situation. The Doctor may contact you to discuss a home visit or other appropriate medical treatment.
The Doctor can usually see five patients at the practice in the time it takes to do one home visit. Please help us by only requesting a home visit if it is really necessary.
If you require telephone advice from the Doctors please ring the surgery and give the receptionist as much information as possible. It is important that you leave a telephone number that you can be contacted on during the day. The Doctor will then call you back when they are not consulting.
If the call is urgent please let the receptionist know and they will put you through to the Duty Doctor.
Test results may be obtained by phoning the surgery on 01992 464147 between 11am and 6pm.
Following feedback from our patients and in an attempt to try to reduce the number of patients that fail to attend or cancel their appointments we have introduced a new appointment reminder service.
If you choose we can now send you a message to confirm/remind you of your booked appointment via a text message to your mobile phone.
By completing the ‘Text Messaging Consent Form’ we will be able to set you up to receive a text message containing your appointment details when you book an appointment.
A further message will also be sent to you 48 hours before your appointment as an appointment reminder (subject to the appointment having been booked more than 2 days in advance).
If you would like to receive appointment reminders please complete the text messaging consent form below.
